Task at Hand
Williams Grand Prix Engineering owns and operates one of the leading F1 racing teams in the world, designing and building its own cars. A refurbishment project was initiated to convert approximately 300 m² of toilets and shower facilities at the company headquarters into usable office space.
The work required a levelling base screed applied at high thicknesses under finished floor coverings when upgrading and renovating internal floors — the previous use had left large cavities in the floor, rendering it unsuitable for new coverings.
KingKrete Solution
A single-component polymeric primer promoting adhesion of cement-based levelling compounds and sealing pores on absorbent surfaces to prevent pin-holing. Diluted with clean potable water and applied in two coats.
A rapid-drying, fibre-reinforced self-levelling screed laid between 5 mm and 50 mm. Mixed at 25 kg powder to 4.0–4.5 litres of water and hand-applied at 10 mm thickness in one pass.
Rather than replacing the concrete floor, the screed repaired and levelled all areas while minimising downtime — carpet coverings were installed after just 24 hours, and the refurbishment completed within the agreed 4-day deadline. KingFloor Renovation carries the EMICODE low-emission label.
