Task at Hand
The Strategic Food Security project at Hamad Port comprises specialized facilities for processing, manufacturing, and refining rice, raw sugar, and edible oils for local, regional, and global use — aiming to stockpile two years’ supply for 3 million people per commodity.
A main client need was a durable, hard-wearing floor surface with high chemical resistance — non-toxic and easily cleaned — for the processing and manufacturing facilities.
KingKrete Solution
A solvent-free, high-build, non-toxic epoxy floor coating providing long-lasting durability, an aesthetic finish, and a hard-wearing surface withstanding constant loads — ideal for a food processing plant with high foot, forklift, and heavy-machinery traffic. Applied by airless spray in two layers at a total dry film thickness of 400 microns over 100,000 m², increased to 500 microns in forklift passing areas.
For outdoor areas, an additional layer of the polyurethane-based protective coating and sealer KingCoat A100 was applied as a UV-protection topcoat — an attractive, long-lasting finish with very good protection for surfaces exposed to aggressive environments.
