Summary

KingKrete played a pivotal role in the success of the Kaheel Project’s foundation pour, which achieved the Guinness World Record for the “Largest Continuous Concrete Pour.” Its contribution was critical in overcoming challenges of timing, logistics, and location.

KingKrete supplied its high-performance superplasticizing admixtures KingMix 313PC , KingMix 318PC , and KingAdd RPC20 , used in nearly 30,000 cubic metres of the raft foundation concrete — the highest share among competitors — while KingBond SBR200 bonding agents ensured effective bonding between concrete batches.

Task at Hand

Kaheel is an exceptional residential project in the Al Sedra neighborhood — 1,492 modern residential units offering a sophisticated quality of life. The raft foundation, 1.5 metres deep, needed to be poured uninterrupted, requiring around 70,000 cubic metres (69,824.87 m³) of concrete.

The pour began Thursday evening, coinciding with the start of the Saudi weekend and its traffic bans on concrete mixers. The concrete’s time sensitivity required prompt approval and pouring on arrival, and the location between the airport area and major business districts further complicated logistics.

KingKrete Solution

KingMix 313PC & KingMix 318PC

High-performance superplasticizing admixtures based on long-chain polycarboxylic ether polymers, enabling the water content to perform more effectively — for the highest concrete durability and performance in high-strength, flowable mixes with the workability retention essential for mass concreting at depth.

KingAdd RPC20

A retarding, water-reducing admixture formulated from selected polymers — used to overcome transportation delays and provide the long setting time required, offsetting the adverse effects of hot weather.

KingBond SBR200

With multiple concrete suppliers on one continuous pour, a bonding agent was required where supplier zones met and at potential cold joints. This one-component styrene-butadiene rubber latex bonding agent ensured effective bonding between different concrete batches.

After about 72 hours of continuous pouring, Guinness World Records judges verified the pour as the Largest Continuous Concrete Pour on record. The KingKrete team was commended by the project manager for on-ground technical support throughout the sensitive event.
